I have been making a Encoder Tester with 16f628 because its small size, on 11.15000 mhz crystal, Tester
become slow in hight speed and looses pulses. I've found a 64 Mhz crystal (on an old sucata device) and tryed it. But I couldn't got communication, when I put 64.000 M + 2400 baud lD micro gives me an error then I put 64.000 M 9600 baud and it's ok on Ld micro simulator, but in real pic circuit I got just strangers charaters on PC hyperterminal. have someone tryed a more than 20 Mhz crystal on PIc16f628 or made similar project?

Hi,
The max crystal frequency for most of the PIC'S I have used is 20Mhz. I think you should check the datasheet. Regards David.
