Read a number (by Frank )
Hello everyone, I am writing from Italy
I would like to make a rotor azimuth to track satellites, receives a given
Serial in this form <AZ212.5 EL11.4 _ *> continuously from a program, (Orbitron)
I should read the number after AZ and EL after the fact
Azimuth and Elevation, the value ranges from 0 to 360 AZ and EL is from 0 to 180
Theoretical and with one decimal.
The pic should read these values and move two engines equipped
potentiometer showing the location, style servant.
I have the two pic 876 and 877 say that I could fly
succeed, but read the value, floating, by a serial is not to
my reach.
Thanks to all

LDmicro is not suitable for this job.
ADC is only 10bits and can read de pot by 0.35 degrees, which is too large.

Ok, thanks.
But LDmicro can read values from the serial?
For the record is not a problem, I wanted to know how to read the value AZ and EL from the serial port.
greetings

Yes, but the numbers must be in formatted form.

AZ123.5
EL23.5
Is very difficult to work with.

AZ123.5
EZ023.5 is much better.

Seach this forum on this.

I figured the problem, but Orbitron provides data only in this form, when there is a zero not send, then it becomes a floating number.
Thanks for reporting.
