PCB etching: UV exposure method (by Samukelo Shezi)
Hallo Mr Westhues!

I would like to experiment on the UV exposure method of etching PCB's, but most websites seem to be hooked with the milling or "ironing" method. Would you please kindly supply some info, or web referals?

I did photo-etch some boards back in the day, but I can't recommend it. The chemistry isn't horrible, but it's somewhat toxic and messy.

That's how boards are made for real, so it must be possible to get good results; certainly better than milled or toner-transferred boards. But there's too many cheap suppliers to justify the time and effort.

A representative list would be

http://www.myropcb.com/
http://www.olimex.com/
http://www.custompcb.com/

Any of these can turn around a two-layer board, with silkscreen, solder mask, and plated through holes, in something around a week. The cost is something under a hundred dollars.

I just had a board back to assemble from www.custompcb.com which Jonathan had refered to.
The results were impressive and they delivered in just over a week.

Positiv Resist (by Alexandre Nolasco)
Hello guys. If you want to make their own plates, try the method with the POSITIV RESIST 200ml of cramolim that is sold in the store "OFICINA DIGITAL" in Portugal. I think it's very simple. Works well. In ELEKTOR magazine has an article .
