Industrial encoder (by Ahmad sakr)
Hi
What is the maximum encoder pulses per revolution can be used in ldmicro?
Also what you suggest for high pulse per revolution encoder (arduino, arm or other types of controller) in order to control the position?
Thanks

I take it You are referring to quadrature encoder.

If so, then the encoder maximum pulse transition rate needs four PLC cycles.

This means if the PLC cycle is 1ms ( 1000 times a second) then encoder pulse rate is 1 pulse per 4 ms or 250 pulses a second.

To go back to Your question which talks about pulses per RPM.. hard to say depends on number of pulses the encoder generates for a single revolution and then how fast is spinning.

Currently, strictly speaking, ldmicro encoder makes sense only as a manual control device with not fast speed.
Currently ldmicro use a software algorithm with an LPC cycle time. This algorithm not for motor control.
Motor control needs an interrupt algorithm(not released now).
