LDmicro Forum - Sleep

Sleep (by Ziggy)
With reference to AVR micros, is there a way of invoking a sleep function within LDmicro software or perhaps within some of the more recent work on special functions registers?

This is aimed at a battery powered application.

After some searching I came across PLCLIB library for Arduino.

While the library does not have a graphical user interface ( such as the one offered with LD micro) it is easy enough to use.

Invoking sleep now offers a significantly improved battery life.

Well here I am again...

Same question: LDmicro and sleep() on AVR microcontroller?

Any advance over the past 12 months?

A PLC never sleeps ;)

I can not see how anybody can do this with a cycletime related program and what to do with the timers.
Maybe using a low power chip is a better idea or stopping the oscillator clock.

In plan.

The key to understanding the request is to recognise the possibility of interrupt driven solution so that the micro goes into a low power state while not needed to do anything in preference to continuously doing nothing.

Ihor,

How long might it take to implement external interrupt driven SLEEP/WAKE functionality on an AVR mega8/328?

One week.
